Welcome to Nursery Road State Special School!

At Nursery Road State Special School, we believe that every child deserves a chance to shine! Located in the heart of Queensland, our school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for students aged 5 to 18 who have intellectual disabilities. Many of our wonderful students also have diagnoses of Autism, physical, or sensory impairments.

Our Unique Programs

We offer four specialized programs tailored to meet the individual needs of our students. Here’s what we focus on:

• Communication: Helping students express themselves and connect with others.
• Literacy and Numeracy: Building essential reading, writing, and math skills.
• ICT: Introducing technology to enhance learning and creativity.
• Physical Health and Well-being: Promoting a healthy lifestyle and emotional support.
• The Arts: Encouraging creativity through music, art, and drama.

Early Childhood Developmental Programs

For our youngest learners, we have two Early Childhood Developmental Programs (ECDP) designed for children under 6. One of these, the Xavier ECDP, is specially crafted for children with physical impairments, ensuring that every child can thrive in a supportive setting.

Vocational Education and Training

As students grow, we also provide opportunities for them to gain practical skills through VET certificate courses offered in partnership with the Special Education Training Alliance (SETA). Upon successful completion, students earn nationally recognized qualifications, paving the way for their future.
