Our School Kindergarten
Welcome to Our School Kindergarten, a vibrant and nurturing environment for young learners. We focus on creating a supportive community where children can grow, learn, and thrive.
Library Media Center
Our Library Media Center is divided into two spaces:
- Blue Library: For Lower Elementary (EC3 to Grade 2)
- Red Library: For Grades 3 to 12
Library Resources
- Print Collection: Over 40,000 books in English and Portuguese, with growing collections in French, Spanish, and Chinese.
- Blue Library: Features board books, picture books, leveled readers, and chapter books.
- Red Library: Offers junior and secondary level books in Portuguese and English, along with a Community Library of donated books.
- Leveled Reader Room: Organized by DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) level.
Electronic Resources
- Sora (by Overdrive): Access to 2,500 eBooks and audiobooks via app or web.
- OPAC: Includes 1,000 eBooks and 260 audiobooks, plus videos from Safari Montage and Infobase.
- Databases: EBSCO Explora, Infobase, NewsBank, and NewsBank KidsPage.
- Educational Resources: Brain Pop, Brain Pop Jr., Brain Pop ELL, and Raz-Kids.
- Citation Tools: Noodletools.
Annual Events
We host several exciting events throughout the year:
- Hooked on Books Event: A shared reading experience for grades Pre-K to 5, with related enrichment activities.
- Summer Reading Program: A booklet with activities for Kindergarten to Grade 4, featuring themes like "Set Sail for Adventure" and "CAISL Reading Olympics."
- First 500 Challenge: Encourages parents to read 500 books to their child before kindergarten.
- Poetry Month Celebration: Activities throughout April, including poetry writing and open mic events.
- Book Clubs: Monthly book clubs for middle school, high school, Portuguese, and parents.
- Library Summer Schedule: Open Tuesday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Celebrating Achievements
We recently celebrated the achievements of our elementary students during the 2nd quarter:
- Class Citizenship Awards were given to students in various grades for demonstrating responsibility, kindness, and respect.
- Athletic Recognition: Our Volleyball Division 5 athletes were acknowledged, with the Boys’ team finishing 2nd and the Girls’ teams finishing 1st and 2nd. In Cross Country, the Boys’ team earned 1st place and the Girls’ team came in 3rd.
- Community Contributions: The Community Service group and Ecolution Club were recognized for their impactful projects.
Art and Culture
Middle school students engaged in a project focused on Chinese landscape painting, exploring traditions from the Song and Yuan Dynasties. They learned about handwriting, typeface design, and created original poems and seal stamps for their artworks.
