General Information - Dolores Huerta Elementary
Welcome to Dolores Huerta Elementary School!
Nestled in the vibrant northern part of Fort Worth, just a stone's throw from Meacham International Airport, Dolores Huerta Elementary is a warm and welcoming place for young learners. We proudly serve children from Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade, creating a nurturing environment where approximately 590 students come together to learn and grow.
Under the caring leadership of Principal Carla Coscia, our school is dedicated to fostering a love for learning in every child.
A Legacy of Inspiration
Our school is named after the remarkable Dolores Huerta, a passionate advocate for the rights of American workers, immigrants, and women. Alongside Cesar Chavez, she co-founded the National Farmworkers Association, which later became the United Farmworkers. Her tireless efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including:
- The Eugene V. Debs Foundation Outstanding American Award
- The United States Presidential Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Human Rights
- The prestigious Presidential Medal of Freedom
In 1993, Dolores Huerta was honored with induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame. She is famously known for her empowering phrase, "Si, se puede!", which means "It can be done!". This spirit of determination and hope inspires our students every day as they embark on their educational journeys.
At Dolores Huerta Elementary, we believe in the potential of every child and strive to create a community where they can thrive!
