Welcome to Key Elementary School!

At Francis Scott Key Elementary School, lovingly known as Key School, we take pride in being a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School right in the heart of Washington, DC. Our doors are open to bright young minds from Pre-K through 5th grade, where we create a nurturing and engaging environment for all our students.

With an average class size of just 20 students, our dedicated teachers ensure that every child receives the attention they deserve. We believe that small classes help foster strong relationships and a love for learning.

Our school is guided by the wonderful leadership of Principal David Landeryou and Assistant Principal Jennifer Green. Together, they work tirelessly to create a supportive and inspiring atmosphere for both students and staff.

Extended Care for Busy Families

We understand that families have busy schedules, which is why we offer the Key Extended Hours Program (KEHP). This program provides before and after school care, giving parents peace of mind while their children enjoy fun and enriching activities.

At Key School, we value the partnership between home and school. Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and Equity Team are great ways for parents to get involved and make a difference in our community. We encourage all parents to volunteer and share their talents with our school family.
