Welcome to Mission Avenue Elementary School!

At Mission Avenue Elementary, we pride ourselves on being a truly special place within the APS community! We are the only school in APS that offers a Project Based Learning science curriculum for all grades from K-5. This means that our students dive into exciting projects that spark their curiosity and creativity!

Hands-On Learning

Our Project Lead the Way science program sets students on an amazing learning journey. Here, they will explore the fascinating worlds of engineering, robotics, and coding—skills that are essential for the technical careers of tomorrow.

Students can look forward to:

• Engaging, hands-on lessons that blend science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
• Access to all the latest tools and resources in the ever-evolving STEM field.
• Development of important engineering habits of mind, like curiosity and resourcefulness, across all subjects.

Exciting Opportunities

There are always wonderful events and opportunities happening at Mission! This fall, we are thrilled to open our new STEM lab, complete with a maker space and fun, hands-on activities that will inspire our young learners.

We are proud to partner with Air Force Research Labs and Open Source Kids, who provide our students with robotics instruction and coding classes. These experiences help build skills that will be valuable in future science classes and beyond.

Additionally, Sandia National Labs offers fantastic opportunities for field trips and participation in a thrilling simulation called Mission to Mars. In this adventure, students will learn the importance of collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking—all essential skills for success!
