Nestled in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal, Infantário Santa Maria da Purificação has been a cherished daycare and preschool since 1962. Our journey began with a simple mission: to support mothers by providing loving and attentive childcare. Over the years, we have blossomed into a vibrant educational institution that nurtures young minds.

Our Educational Philosophy

Inspired by the ideas of great thinkers like Piaget and Vygotsky, we embrace a constructivist approach that encourages active learning and the development of critical thinking skills.

A Unique Learning Experience

We don’t follow a strict curriculum model; instead, we focus on the principles of active learning and child-centered education. One of our exciting projects, 'Portugal, History and Traditions', helps children explore their cultural roots and develop a strong sense of identity.

Our Caring Team

Our dedicated team of 33 staff members includes 9 educators, 2 administrative staff, and 1 pedagogical coordinator. Together, we create a warm and nurturing environment where children can thrive. We emphasize moral, social, and cultural values, ensuring that every child feels valued and respected.

Who We Serve

While we cater to young children, from infancy to preschool age, our focus is always on providing a safe and engaging space for exploration and learning. Although we don’t specify a teacher-to-child ratio, we pride ourselves on maintaining a supportive atmosphere where every child receives the attention they deserve.

Language of Instruction

Given our location, the primary language of instruction is Portuguese, allowing children to immerse themselves in the rich culture of our beautiful country.
